The ancient Mayans had two versions of the now famous calendar. They survived their first edition.... They (the Mayans) did not predict the end of the world; only a major transformation. So at least this movie didn't show the planet blowing up! Some of the statements about geology were laughable. It's true that we shoud be headed for another magnetic polarity reversal, but that takes thousands of years to complete! Many of Earth's species survived the last reversal. Scientific faux pas aside, 2012 was very exciting. It had an adequate structure, and one won't mind the length because of this. I find tales of survival entertaining. This film will remain one of my favorites in that genre; as long as I can remain unbiased.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
