So we're the parents of 3 girls who are badly wanting to see this movie. One will be allowed to since she is 15, the other two won't be since they are 12 and 8 and too young for the violence. I have not read the books but trust me parents when I say that you probably need to before you would like this movie. It might or might not be true to the books but as a stand alone movie, it pretty much stinks. The first 80% of the movie is what really is bad the last 20% or so picks up somewhat and is ok. It doesn't have any really bad scenes that makes it objectionable. But, still it's for teenagers and not younger. Teenagers that like bad movies that is.
This movie is what all movie experiences should be like. It possibly might be the best movie I've ever seen. I'll have to give it some time and think about it. But, it definetley one of the best. The only draw back I had was Bales voice when he is Batman. It's very odd to say the least. But, other than that you have to see this movie in IMAX.
If you like the original tv series then you'll like this movie. If you don't remember or have never heard of the orginal then you might not like it as much. Anne Hathaway has finally arrived from being just a chick movie actress. Her scene with the lasers is unbelivable!
We went because of the kids. Ok, actually we went because my wife and I thought that it looked funny. But, with the kids in tow we had an excuse for seeing the newest cartoon. Of course it's predictable it's a cartoon. But, the characters are very well done and the voices of the various human actors are really spot on. Very good movie for kids and adults.
