I wasn't quite sure what to expect - was it a romantic comedy, an action adventure, slapstick?? Actually it was a little of all three and funny as he$$. The scene on board the airplane with Cameron in the bathroom (and I don't think I'm giving anything away) was one of the funniest scenes I've witnessed in a long time. The entire theater was in stitches. Diaz and Cruise were great. Yes there were a few ridiculous parts ( the bulls!) but overall, it was very funny, worth seeing and will hold up well over time. In fact I think critics and audiences will apprciate it more as time goes on, kind of like the movie It Happened One Night, but in an adventure form. It's too bad more people aren't seeing it. Forget what you've heard about Tom Cruise. He's still a very good actor. If you can overlook a few of the cartoonish stunts, you'll have fun. Isn't that what going to the movies is supposed to be? I give it 4 1/2 stars out of 5.
I have to say I was a little hesitant about the movie. I was a hugh fan of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha and still haven't gotten over the series ending. I liked the ending and was afraid the movie would mess up my happily ever after thoughts. Well I have to say I am VERY pleased with this movie. It was quite a tear jerker. I wasn't quite ready for how many tears I shed and although it did wrap up in a pretty neat bow, there was enough real life emotion to make it believable. Christopher Noth is just as fine as ever and the girls shined. Yes, I could have seen a little more of the supporting characters, but you can only do so much in a two hour movie. It's well worth seeing. If you loved SATC, don't let those jaded reviewers make you miss it.
