This movie was bloody awful. It's been many years since I've been to a movie that bored me to tears from beginning to end. I would expect this kind of sophomoric acting from freshmen in high school doing their first play. The CGI ranged from bad to tolerable. The story line, what little there was, was very fragmented and there was no chemistry of anykind between any of the 'actors'. All in all a complete waste of time and money.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

it is rare for me to enter a theater and totally forget the real world because I've been transported to a new one where I am completely engrossed in the story before me. Colin Firth was utterly believable as the reluctant king who stepped up to the plate in numerous ways when his country needed him. His pride, his stubbornness, and his fears were so very real to me that they brought me to laughter and tears during the film. Geoffrey Rush's performance was also impeccable as the strong mentor/friend who strove to help "Bertie" understand and overcome his disorder. Everything about this movie was a win-win for me.
This was pure joy from start to finish. The evil "mother" had just the right amount of menace without being over-the-top.The heroine was especially engaging. Her unique way of handling the invasion of her isolated world (frying pans: who knew) and watching her growth as a unique individual was presented in equal parts of humor, and wit with just a touch of the sadness that is a part of growing up. I loved every aspect of this movie.
