I took my daughter of age 7. she was not so impressed. she wanted to leave after it was 1/2 over. I totally enjoyed it and the humour. i will take my 10 yr old son as he will enjoy, i'm sure and can "get" some of the Jack Black humour you look forward to. Most of it went over my 7 year olds head.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
