We went to see this to "revisit" Hawaii, where we went a couple of months ago for our honeymoon. This was a very fun movie! I figured out the twist pretty early on, but it didn't diminish it for me. Great scenery, pretty people, twisty plot--exactly what we wanted!
The "foreign journalist" gig is tired now. There were funny bits, for sure, but he needs a new schtick now (HUGE pun intended!)
Amazed by the family with 8 pre-teens who walked out during the swinger scenes. WTH? who brings pre-teens to an R film and then walks out--those ratings exist for a reason.
I really wanted to LOVE this movie...i really did. but a lot of it just fell flat. It's a shame.
He has taken the morality play of his westerns and brought it into modern times. He has spent the last 15-20 years doing his best work , in my opinion. This movie is about justice, and the fact that your own family may not end up being the people you love and rely on most--which is very true. Walt does things on his own terms, and ends up being more truly Christian than even the priest! Some of the language and violence is jarring, but the theme and the incredible performances make it worth it. There is nothing gratuitous about it--where some films would focus on more graphic aspects of the plot, this film gives you all you need to know or see of that. Excellent movie. Highly recommended!
SO scary! NOT cheesy! NOT over the top gory! just good old-school creepy as all get out. Excellent movie for its type. Well worth the wait and the $$ (it was sold out the 1st time we tried to see it). I think I know what many folks will be for Halloween this year.
