Credit Joss Whedon, he really made the most of this tentpole opportunity. His direction lead to the best superhero movie from marvel yet. They finally got the Hulk right - and Mark Ruffalo deserves huge credit here. Fantastic.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Really Cool Experience

I'm a fan of James Cameron's, though I admit I wasn't really that into going to see Avatar. Although the spectacle of Titanic was great, that story left me a bit flat. Avatar is that on steroids (though I enjoyed the story more).
I knew where the story was going and there were few surprises. But the way Cameron was able to use the new technology to fully immerse me in the experience and the world was thrilling. This was unlike any film experience I have ever had. More than eye candy, it made the idea of CGI disappear for me. And because the 3D was fully integrated into the environment, I was able to really enjoy the story.
My list of groundbreaking films: Star Wars, Terminator, Jurassic Park, and now Avatar.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Not just for chicks

Excellent movie, captures the spirit of the tv show with relatively few missteps. One of the biggest missteps is that Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) comes off as a bit shrill, and her journey is the most difficult to follow. Likewise Steve (David Eigenberg) overplays his emotional scenes.
But the rest is a treat, from Carrie and Big, Charlotte and Harry, and Samantha and Smith, and even the overrated Jennifer Hudson (in a role that anyone could have hit a homerun with) is passable.
The movie at its best feels like the next (extended) episode alongside one of HBO's greatest shows. Its like visiting with old friends and feeling you picked up where you left off.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
