Laugh out loud funny in many places - suprisingly good was our vote. When something gets good critical reviews, we usually disagree, but this one even had my husband rolling! Characters weren't trying to "redo" their earlier cast, the actors made the parts their own.
As mentioned in several places, the effects were "iffy" in alot of places, totally unbelieveable, but the laughs kept coming and they were able to overcome that for me.
The banter between Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law is what made it through the somewhat slow points of the movie. Nice plot twists and turns, and as usual, Robert Downey, Jr's perfermance was outstanding (and I can't say I'm a huge fan, but I do see his talent).
Overall, very entertaining and a easy to watch. Was initially worried about the overtone of magic, but was a great conversation starter when it was over. My son was the one that said "glad they cleared that up!".
Would I see it again, yes, at a Redbox rental, but probably not at $9
Out of the three of us that watched it, none of us would even recomment renting from for $1. Expected something different. Wasn't the blood/guts that bothered us, just the lack of a plot, the "chapters" and the overall "redneck" feel of the movie.
For some reason, we were expecting something resembling autobiographical. (Didn't expect the yelling proceeding the moving about killing or the applause when it occurred). Obviously it was a war movie, so we expected some gore.
