I was so surprised with this movie. The reviews and nominations had warranted this a great movie, but the entire length of duration kept me captivated and educated on the history of Britain as well the obstacles King George 6 had to tackle. I look forward to watching again when it comes to Pay Per View.
The traveling and culture of this movie was quite appealing to us and the acting quite good. I wanted to be there with them, and that should account for great filming. It may have been a bit longer, especially for those wanted more "action", but we had enjoyed every aspect of this movie, especially knowing that it was a true story.
What a wonderful movie! Far better than I had imagined. Came home and emailed all my friends. The title explained what the movie was to be about but now how those involved with this young boy are touched by these letters. Worth seeing over and over again. Take your Mom or Dad as a treat!
Overall, this movie was very similar to the book. Miley's inexperience as an actress was there but the other actors were great. There was much laughing, and yes, some crying parts. Very touching relationship with Dad, brother, and Mom. My mom (aged 79) was waiting for this movie as she had read the book and we were both not disappointed.
I read the book first as I often will do for true stories and found it pretty close, but so much more powerful. It could have expanded on the difficulties the Mom had with the continued care of these children when Dad was off on his job or travelling but the devotion that the Dad has to his daughter is clearly shown. The actress who plays Megan is fabulous! Such a good part for Harrison Ford, as I notice he was exec producer, too. Way to go, Harrison!
Very, very funny movie. Content of movie was very touching about a father's growing love for children he didn't know he had. Both actors relate well with each other.
Very good movie.. kept me interested the entire time, and I don't know a thing about rugby. It made we fully realize the wonderful man that Dr. Nelson Mandela was. Morgan Freeman should get the oscar for this one and Matt Damon the supporting. Way to go... Clint!
I read the book and the movie had at least 5 major changes, including the ending. It had entirely too many long slow periods and really was boring and dry at times.. I was very disappointed in this movie after reading the book which was quite dramatic.
