I find the "Critics Review" of this movie absolutely atrocious. Anybody who's a true fan of the television show would understand that the characters are caricatures; that's part of why it's so funny! I can understand why a person who isn't already a major fan of the show wouldn't enjoy the film and may find it cheesy, over-the-top, and totally unrealistic. But that IS Sex and the City!
It's about a world that doesn't exist where women are the rulers and have the ability to get everything they've ever wanted, from beautiful expensive clothes to men.
For Sex and the City fans, I'd say that this film does the show justice and I definitely enjoyed it more than the first. I was appalled at how depressing the first half of the original movie was with what was going on in Carrie and Miranda's lives. This movie, however, is light-hearted and funny through and through, despite any problems the women are facing in their personal lives.
In my opinion, it's close to a perfect Sex and the City movie and all FANS should go see it. Outside of their fan base? Perhaps not.
I just saw the sneak peak for SATC and it was absolutely perfect! I was really worried that the movie wouldn't feel like the tv show--that it would be an entity all its own, but that didn't happen. The writers wrote the perfect storyline that played out just as it would have if the show were still taping and the actors stayed true to their roles as if they'd never stepped out of those characters! In the end, everything was as it should be and I can't wait to see it again and again!
