The Indiana Jones movies are inspired by the old "serials" from the 1940's. They are NOT supposed to be "believable" or "realistic." What they are supposed to be, and, with the exception of "Temple of Doom," what they unfailingly are, is FUN. "Crystal Skull" is a really FUN movie, which is all it's trying to be. The plot is silly, the action is over-the-top ridiculous, the acting is wink-wink-nudge-nudge overdone, and it all adds up to a really good time at the movies.
Also, those who dislike the subject matter are obviously not Art Bell/Coast to Coast AM fans, as Spielberg apparently is. Anyone who's tuned in to the supernatural tales of Mr. Bell et. al. will be more than familiar with the story elements, which are, again, NOT realistic, but really FUN.
Go to this movie, check your brain at the door, don't expect some kind of CGI animated cyberborg explosion, and have FUN!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
