Superficial sentimentality

"The Blind Side" is effective in pulling at your heart strings and is a good family movie. On closer reflection the movie centers on the mother played by Sandra Bullock. She is a strong character that dominates the other actors, even the lead character. It was fun to see real SEC football coaches in more than cameo roles. Recommend you stay to the end to see the credits which feature many actual photographs of the family during their high school and college experiences.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
