I looked forward to this latest Harry Potter movie. I was glad to see a modern sort of grungy look to the cinematography. But that was about the only good thing to me.
It just seemed to me like the movie never got started. Maybe that is because it is the same movie as all the other one's with the addition of some teen angst. In fact the more I think about it, with the exception of the teen stuff, I can't recall any thing we haven't seen before.
I would have left half way through, but I thought my wife was enjoying it. Turns out she didn't like it either. She wouldn't have left but also found it incredibly boring.
I saw this with my wife and daughter (13). We all said it was 3 stars at best. Our showing was nearly sold out, but rarely did you hear out loud laughter.
I wouldn't say don't see it. Just don't pick it over any other movie you might want to see.
I took my 13 year old daughter to see this. When I asked my daughter if she liked it, she said yes (which would indicate at least 4 out of 5 stars) and that she couldn't believe I had taken her to a "chick flick".
I happen to like Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway and the story had the potential to be funny. However, every joke was too predictable to be funny.
So, I would say that my daughter and other young women in the audiences view are more relevant than mine. They all seemed to enjoy the movie and their was quite a bit of positive discussion as we left the theater.
For me this was 3 out five. For my daughter at least 4 out of 5.
Clint Eastwood is fantastic. He can take a line that would probably sound corny if delivered by anyone else and make it a classic. The rest of the cast is good.
This movie strikes a balance between light-heartedness with numerous funny lines (note these lines are mostly racial slurs and could be offensive to some) and tender scenes and serious commentary on racial tensions.
