The best Indian Film I've seen. Full of joy, sorrow despair, hope and reality. A must see for anyone who wants to understand what drives the Indian psychic and the pressures facing a generation that is between two worlds.
This dramatization of the actual gallentry that saved the lives of many Jews during the horror of The Holocost has been brillinatly bought to light in this film. The acting od Daniel Craig and Liv is superb and should warrant them academy awards. To know of the strenght of these people who decided not to surrender but fight back is great. And to know that they keot their faith while doing so is even greater.
While "Milk" was a good portrayal of Gay Liberation Movement, it failed to recognize the important role of Black and Latino gays. They were the first inhabitants of the Castro and the bars that are now par of Gay history. But in the film, we see only a few non-White faces and then only incidentialy.
An engrossing trip through the slums and abject poverty of Modern India as it deals with an emerging middle class and a rising and still poor underclass.
The late Heath Ledger gave an sxcellent performance as The Joker (I wonder if the role will come back in future fils given the impressive acting of both Jack Nicolson and now Leger). The story is a bit complicated so despite it's long running time, don't nod as I did, because if you do you will miss some important part of the complicated plot. A bit too long for my taste, but a great performance by Ledger.
This is a really sad story but has some real elements to it, reflective of our society which is self-obsessed, self-destructive and not centered on Godly things.
A story that needed to be told. I was not aware of this heroic salvation of a community of innocent Chinese children who were fostered and educated by a foreigner in these difficult days for China. A stunning tribute to one man's answering his called to serve humankind. Excellent photo visions of parts of China not usually seen.
This is a story of decadence typical of the upper class at the time. It is a griping portrayal of a family with too much money and time and too little to do of substance.
