Hi everyone, I am a huge fan of the George Lucas classics, including the Indiana Jones trilogy. However, like the Star Wars series, great movie makers shouldn't diminish the glory of a great series with sub-par new additioins. Not only is it disappointing to the hardcore fans, but it makes new viewers have a lessor oppinion of the series in general. Such is the case of Indiana Jones. "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is like a mediocre remake of "The Mummy II", which wasn't a very good movie to begin with. Considering the Indiana Jones series is one of the most highly regarded action movie trilogies in movie-making history, one would think that Speilberg and Lucas would have had enough respect for it to only add a new movie that was at the same caliber, or higher, than the previous three. It is disgraceful on their part. As for the new movie itself, the graphics are cheesy (particularly the monkeys and prairiedogs, which detract from the movie). I think that actors cast are capable of great perfomances, but not with this script and plot. In "Raiders..." Marion is quirky and funny; but in this new movie her character is a sappy ditz. I like some of the ideas presented, like the crystal skulls, the Rusians, and adding Marion back into the story, but everything is so poorly executed. The dialog doesn't flow; it is boring and lacking in the customary Indiana Jones wit. The plot moves to fast and just glosses over important elements of the story. It was jam packed with cliches and events that were ripped-off from other movies ("The Mummy" and "Tarzan" come to mind). While previous Indi movies had crazy things happen, those movies were so well done that you believed that with luck, Indi could do anything. The plot and events in this new movie, however, are so poorly done that the events are simply unbelievable and, thus, unenjoyable (you will know what I mean when you see, for instance, the Tarzan scene; ridiculous). The ending too is filled with many events, yet leaves you unsatisfied. To be fair, I think some young viewers who have no history with the Indiana Jones series, and aren't expecting anything, might like it as just a family action movie. However, anyone who has seen and loved a previous Indi movie will likely be quite disappointed. Don't waste your money seeing it in the theater. And if your a big fan, and want to preserve your respect for the Indiana Jones series, don't see "The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" at all. At least Lucas has run out of good series to screw-up.
