Unexpected Jackpot!

Lottery Ticket is HILARIOUS! I took a chance on this film, not knowing what I was getting into. And like playing the numbers, it was well worth the risk!
Bow Wow and a cast of funny, funky, and friendly neighborhood charaters take you on a wild adventure through the projects where it's all about the Benjamins!
If you liked the Friday and Barber Shop movies, you'll really enjoy this one!

Good Graphic Novel Cinema!

I read the first Scott Pilgrim graphic novel with my comic book club. And I really enjoyd it except for all the homosexual humor.
Well...you can say...the film adaptation lives up to the source material. There is great comic book style action with a video game flare, but way too much gay comedy for the straight guy to have to endure.
The fight scenes were intense and the special effects were really cool! The story was funny, quirky, and creative.
However, after having recently seen The Expendables, I wasn't totally sold on the Scott Pilgrim anti-hero. Michael Cera was more mouse than man.
Fortunately the film had Anna Kendrick, the saving grace for a heterosexual male moviegoer! Oh thank heaven!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Rambo Returns! (With Friends)

Remember the good old days of 80's cinema? When a HERO worked out at the gym? Well my friends, you will get your fair share of testosterone and more from The Expendables!
Stallone is back! And he's brought his Hollywood heavyweight friends along for the ride! From Jason Statham to Jet Li the bad boys of kick butt cinema are all here! Even his former Rocky co-star.Dolph Lundgren couldn't miss the show!
What you get in The Expendables is a cool story with lots of explosive action. It's just what a Rambo fan like myself enjoys. There is awesome hand-to-hand combat in this flic! The fight scenes are rough and dangerous and not to be missed!
If you are ready for a tough guy, in your face, mind blowing adventure, you've come to the right place! All others, go see Julia Roberts new movie!

Hip & Hilarious!

It's about timeThe Other Guys got their own movie! What a great concept and well executed film!
Wahlberg and Will are a dynamic duo!
And the supporting cast is outstanding! I hate to name drop, but Eva Mendes, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson made this flic so much fun to watch!
If you are ready to laugh your blues away, and gain some insight into corporate greed in America, this one's for YOU!

Worth Her SALT!

Angelina. Angelina. You are TOTALLY AWESOME!
What an incredible film! SALT was an intense, edge-of-your-seat movie that rocked my world!
The story: Unpredictable! The cast: Superb!
I adore Mrs. Jolie in this type of roll. The former Tomb Raider is a no nonsense lady who is a cut above the rest, and simply the best!
And when she goes from blonde to brunette....watch out! It's like when Spider-Man got his black costume! Ladies take note for your next trip to the hair salon!
Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor were fantastic too! They gave this one woman powerhouse some really nice male support.
SALT is an all around exciting film that should definately be enjoyed on the big screen! And to me it's Angelina Jolie's best film to date!

Stretch Your Imagination!

The Down Town Los Angeles bootlegger may have a hard time selling this film. That's because it's so INTELLIGENT that the average Joe or Jose will probably get REAL confused.
However, I totally enjoyed the intricate levels of entertainment that this movie provided. It had a sophistication that is missing in contemporary motion pictures.
The story unraveled in the most unpredictable way. And I was captivated by the world of dreams within dreams.
DiCaprio's performance was intense! As was the entire cast. While the visuals were completely stunning and very much worth the IMAX experience!
Christopher Nolan really out did himself as a filmmaker; writing, directing, and producing a provocative film that entices the mind, and speaks to the soul!

Magic The Gathering!

I LOVE seeing a movie on opening night! Even when it happens to be on a Wednesday and the AMC feels like a ghost town.
No matter, it was a must for me to take in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice"! I'm a Nic Cage fan, a Disney fan, and a Jerry Bruckheimer fan rolled into one!
And boy did I have fun!
The story and special effects were way cool!
This is a really creative adaptation of the classic animated tale. Only in 2010, instead of Mickey Mouse we've got "Tropic Thunder's" Jay Baruchel to make us laugh. He's got charm, he's got comedic timing, and he's got an excellent supporting cast of oddball characters!
Omar Benson Miller is hilarious! Give the casting director a high five for me. Omar's scenes were VERY funny!
Alfred Molina was pure awesomeness! Nic was the master! And the beautiful Monica Bellucci was like the icing on the cake!
What more could I ask for! I'm ready for the sequel! Bring it on!

Bad Guy...Good Heart!

"Despicable Me" was unexpectedly AWESOME! This movie not only entertains, but moves the heart as well! I didn't think I wpuld enjoy it as much as I did.
It's definately worthy of Hollywood. Some of the films I've seen lately didn't deserve the million dollar (+) budget.
"Despicable" is unpredictable...novel...creative! It's funny, heart warming, and full of adventure! And it's a perfect example that a hit movie need not be based on popular material (like a book, comic, or animated series).
Steve Carell delivers the goods with some of the most adorable characters that you will see on screen.
I really like the HUMANITY in this motion picture. The story isn't just black and white. Rather, the grey areas of life are explored and brought to light in a fascinating way.
Yes, it's all here in this animated joy ride!

Easy Prey...

What started out as an interesting film ended up to be almost pointless. Movies are like my children, and I hate talking bad about them. But since the AMC took my hard earned money for this one, I guess I'll voice my opinion.
The story is pretty unpredictable. And Alice Braga...Mamacita! She and Adrian Brody had great on-screen chemistry.
Unfortunately, the entire cast couldn't hold up to the MIGHT that Arnold Schwarzenegger had in the first film. Everybody seemed such weak prey for a true Predator. Even Lawrence Fishburn's cameo didn't have the strength as Bill Duke or Jessie Ventura in the original.
The samurai showdown scene was cool. However, the most amusing thing about this flic was the number of times "Robert Rodriguez" appears in the credits and the trailer for his Danny Trejo "Machete" movie.
Maybe I should have seen "Despicable Me" instead.

Better The Second Time!

I was actually pretty disappointed the first time I saw The Last Airbender. I'm a huge fan of the animated series and had high expectations for the live action adaptation. Unfortunately, at the end of the Non-3-D version I walked out of the theater upset.
I felt so deprived and decided the next day, to give this film a second chance, with lower expectations, and with the added dimension of 3-D. You know what? I enjoyed the movie much more the second time.
Sure there is a lot of bad acting, not to mention moments of bad writing and direction, and key relationship and character elements that made the series great are missiing. As a film critic I could tear this movie apart and send M. Night back to film school, or india for that matter!
But as a Last Airbender fan I won't do that. To my fellow Airbender enthusiasts, forget about the many shortcomings, and even try to laugh off the Earth Bender's silly Janet Jackson dance routine. You've got to enjoy this film for the score, art direction, costumes, cinematography, sets, and moments where the essence of the cartoon are captured.
And if you are 6 years old or under, you'll probably get a real kick out of this flic and have no problems.
I'm sure M.Night had good intentions. But he should have made his usual acting cameo, in this movie as the Fire Lord. Then we would REALLY have had a villian to hate!
