This is a fantastic (like the 4) prequel to all the X-Men movies we have seen to date! I didn't really know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this film.
It is not just an incredible (like the Hulk) superhero movie but a great drama as well! There are some really excellent performances by a first rate cast, with a perfect blend of action, humor, and special effects.
Marvel seems to be having a good deal of success with their comics to cinema adaptations.
"X-Men: First Class" is just as amazing as Spider-Man, and worth seeing on the big screen!
I thought I got enough sleep last night (7-8 hours). But for the life of me, I could not stay awake during this film. I'm thinking it was the tried and true FORMULA of this movie that put me to sleep. Sure it works. But it has been so used and abused.i.e hero must stop villian, hero faces challenges, hero wins. BORING!
On the other hand, what a cast of voice talent! Give the casting director a bonus. But not the writers. They should have given Jackie Chan and Van Damme more lines.
I'm still not a fan of the wimpy hero thing either. Tigress/Angelina Jolie was the real star. They should have named this film "Tigress Returns"!
There were some touching moments. But they could have left all that fat boy humor for "Gulliver's Travels 2". Now there's a film you won't see in theaters any time soon.
I think the best thing about this cinema outing was Steven Spielberg's "Tintin" trailer!
The real world can really suck at times! Isn't that one of the reasons we go to the movies? Just to escape it all? Well, the latest Pirates of the Caribbean flic is the perfect getaway!
This film puts the "A" in ADVENTURE and is fun, fun, fun!
Think of Captain Jack Sparrow as a White Bob Marley! He's got soul! He's got charm! And he's "fighting for survival" amongst cutthroats and thieves on the high seas.
With the beautiful Penelope Cruz, and the dynamic Geoffrey Rush along for the journey to the Fountain of Youth, you will definitely be in for a real cinematic treat!
Full of strange and evil characters, back stabbers, and odd ball situations, this movie may even remind you of the real world after all!
I must confess, at first, I was really enjoying this movie. But as the show progressed, I slowly lost faith.
This film did not seem complete. Sure they set you up for the sequel. But the story left me hanging. And the final chapter or act of this flic seemed contrived and rushed.
Not only that, but the plot revelations were like "So what?". I've seen this movie before under another name and cast. And done better too.
Sorry to crack down on this one with a bad review. I was expecting a little more for my buck. I work hard for the $25.00 I just shelled out for this semi-good motion picture (including concessions). Lord have mercy!
THOR was a much better flim and felt like a "whole" movie, even though it left the end open for part two.
I felt short changed with PRIEST and I'll leave it at that.
Wow! THOR was AWESOME! I didn't know what to expect going into the theater. But when I came out, I was blown away!
This flic has it all! Great story, acting, action, comedy, and romance. Not to mention the costumes, cinematography, and special effects.
But what its really got is a lot of HEART!
I use to read the Thor comic book as a kid. Surprisingly, the big screen adaptation is true to the source material. And director Kenneth Branagh brings the God of Thunder to the next level of entertainment.
Natalie Portman was brilliant! She was cute, funny, sexy, and clever. Her performance added the pizazz that glued it all together.
Chris Hemsworth (Thor) truly embodied the character. And Tom Hiddleston (Loki) was wickedly cool! All in all, there were excellent performances. And unlike Lord of the Rings, there was even a solid Black character in the mix! Nice!
This one was also skillfully casted to bring in the Harry Potter and Star Wars fanboys. We'll see how the Thor boxoffice fears up against Fast Five (another summer favorite of mine).
But don't HATE! PARTICIPATE! And check out THOR as he brings the thunder and the pain! I know it's Mother's Day weekend. So bring Mommy along for the ride!
This is it BABY! This is IT! Some of the HARDEST muthas of cinema today are in this film! And boy does Fast Five pack a mean punch!
You won't want to miss this on the IMAX screen either. It is full of action, with incredible visuals that will blow you away! And it all takes place in tropical RIO! How's that for escapism!
This one's got it all! Great story, intense scenes, and a cast worth its weight in gold. Even Ludacris' acting improved in this film!
But don't take my word for it ladies and gentlemen. Head over to your local theater and check out the fight of the century: Vin Diesel vs The Rock! Now that, my friends, is worth the ticket!
There were lots of great colors in this film! The reds, blues, and yellows just popped off the screen! If you enjoy art, then you'll enjoy the view of "Rio"!
Unfortunately a wimpy male lead and the Black people as bad guys wasn't my cup of tea. Sure they cast the ethnic voice talents of a few Uncle Toms: Jamie Foxx, Tracy Morgan, George Perez, and Will I Am. But that didn't change the racist Hollywood formula (White=Good/ Black=Bad) that has become legend!
And they had the nerve to make a little Brazilian street kid a shape shifter. Typical scenerio: Cute as kids but as adults we are crooks.
If you are a person of color, beware of Hollywood. They may make us look like clowns and criminals, and use us as tokens, but ask yourself: Why is that?
And if you are a parent, BEWARE as well. They have a crossdressing Brazilian man and dog in this film too!
Not surprising coming from the producers of "Ice Age". I thought their last film stunk too!
The visual effects and action in Sucker Punch were pretty incredible! Zack Snyder really knows how to craft a movie for the MTV/ Playstation generation!
That said, the story was wild, creative, and unpredictable. And the cast of foxy females had my eyes glued to the IMAX screen.
The acting was intense and the film played out like a live action video game!
There was a message in the madness. If you choose to observe it. The psychiatric industry and its institutions need to be eradicated from our society.
Hopefully this piece of entertainment brings light to the terrible practices of "mental health" practitioners. I know my friends at Citizens Commission On Human Rights will like this flic. And I think you will too!
