Okay...Lots of explosions, tons of gun fire, plenty of action, and a cast of cool characters. That's the Death Race formula. Not to mention hip and stylish direction. Tyrese Gibson is the real deal! And Natalie Martinez really caught my eye! However, despite 4 writers constructing the script the story was a little weak and unbelievable. I'd go see Tropic Thunder a second time instead.
Remeber the good old days when Star Wars movies were good? I was a kid when the first trilogy came out. I thought I might be able to relive those days with The Clone Wars. My mistake. This "episode" was just like a television episode. The female jedi Asoka looked like a tribal monkey. Why couldn't she have been designed as a normal looking sexy brown skinned human female? The movie could also have been better if a character like Chubaka or other cool characters from the earlier films were included. The only reseason this mediocre film made it to the theater is because of the Star Wars name and George Lucas' bank account. Hey George! Spot me a couple million and I'll give you a better flic for the fans!
Hey gang! I don't normally catch a movie during the week but this time I had to see the # 1 picture in America that snatched the spot from The Dark Knight. As it turns out I was totally thrilled yesterday by Tropic Thunder. It is hilarious, very creative, and well directed! The "cast behind the cast" is fantastic! But let me say that Ben Stiller did an excellent job in front of and behind the camera. From before the begining...and I do mean "before the begining" to the end, the comedy & action just doesn't stop! Go see and enjoy this movie. I don't want to spoil it for you.
There were good parts & there were a lot of not so good parts. I was expecting a stronger story. Many of the scenes and acting lacked an organic feel and appered very staged. and contrived This movie may have done better many years ago against Birth Of A Nation. Audiences today are much more savy than Rob Cohen may think. There was too much narration in the begining. It's a film for Christ sake. Don't tell it. Show it! There were lots of stereotypes and overt ripping off of Raiders of the Lost Ark style action. The Yettis, Jet Li, and the beautiful young Asian actress from Forbidden Kingdom, however, saved the day (for me that is....having payed $8.50 for my ticket!)
Awesome! Unpredictable! Action Packed! And...yes...Oscar worthy! This film far surpassed my expectations! The acting and story were fantastic! What a cast! Very talented and diverse! Go see this movie! Please don't wait for the DVD! 2 thumbs way up there! Be prepared for the roller coaster ride of your life with The Dark Knight!
The visuals and voice talent in this movie were amazing! And the action sequences were pretty awesome too! My only complaint is in the belivability of a fatso Panda becoming a kung fu master practically over night. The message of "believing in yourself" is great for everybody. But if you want to really reach the kids with a message, eating right and exercise coupled with rigorous training, are the real ingredients to success, not being an obese buffoon!
Was I the only person who saw Meet Dave this weekend? Have we all forgotten the man that made us laugh silly for so many years? Or is it the bad press he's been receiving? Meet Dave was a fun film with lots of laughs. No doubt it's a "clean" Eddie. A fouler mouth may have filled more theeter seats. But the unique story, cast, and Gabrielle Union were just spectacular to watch!
Okay! I was excpecting more from this movie. It being the summer and all. It had ir's good parts and it had it's rediculous parts. I think it could have been paced faster. Maybe I would have liked the 3D version better. However, it did have a cool story premise based on the original novel. Unfortunately no Black, Latino, Asian, or Indian actors in the cast. Not even a brother getting eaten by a dinosaur. Looking forward to seeing Brendan Fraser and Jet Li in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor!
Hey! It wasn't as good as the first, but it was still very creative and unpredictable! Ron Perlman was great! The story...well...just another chapter in the Hell Boy saga. I was looking for someone of color in the cast and couldn't find any. I guess Guillermo del Toro's world is still stuck in 20th century segragation.
Wow! What a cool movie! It had all the action, humor, excitement, and drama that a summer movie should! Whats more, Hancock is a real character driven movie minus the melodrama. Great acting and great actors make this worth watching. Will Smith is hip yet complex. Charlize Theron is magic on the screen---sexy & smart! And, once again, it's great to see Jason Bateman back in action. Where's his sister? They were two of my favorite 80's TV actors. Back to Hancock, go see it!
