Jesus Christ! I'm only 34 and already I feel like an old timer! While the masses flocked to see Beverly Hills Chiwawa, me and a few mature moviegoers took in Ed Harris' lataest film. And an excellent film at that. I rank this one up there with "Unforgiven" and "Open Range". It's a wild west with humanity, deep characters, and an intriguing story. Sure it's not as fast paced as the typical music video style movie you may be use to. But it sure is cinematic and dramatic. Appaloosa may have come in at # 5. But to me, it's #1!
You know why our country is in a financial crisis? It's because of stupid movies like this! That's harsh! But almost true. The # 1 movie in America may have grossed Hollywood millions but talk about "dumbing down for the audience". I don't know what was more stupid, the silly plot of this film or the idiot group of teenagers sitting behind me who kept talking throughout the entire movie. And from their comments, they were equally disappointed by the story. However, Shia LaBeouf is a natural talent. The kid from "Holes" is all grown up and acting his tail off! I'll go see his next movie. But enough about Eagle Eye. How 'bout that trailer for Quantum of Solace? Looks like a winner!
It's a MIRACLE that a movie like this came out! Finally a film where African-Americans are portrayed as true American heros. It's not common in Hollywood historical fiction. At least not since "Glory". Thanks to Spike Lee and screenwriter James McBride "Miracle at St. Anna" takes us through the Black and Italian experiences of World War 2. I laughed and I cried at this complex story with a human heart. Thank you Touchstone Pictures for financing this quality piece of cinema!
The Coen brothers have done it again! No. Really! This movie was just brilliant! The acting was top notch. And the story and characters were incredibly quirky and off the wall. John Malkovich was superb! His dramatic ability is amazing! He really played this roll to a "T". As a matter of fact, the entire cast was fabulous! If you're looking to see "something fresh & different" this movie's for you!
This is one of those rare movies where I predicted the ending twist at the very begining. So that made the movie drag on for me. But I won't give it away. It wasn't like The Sixth Sense where they fed me clues and still got me in the end. Granted, DeNiro and Pacino were entertaining to watch. But the ending in this film was pretty silly considering these A-list actors. And why'd these guys have to wait until they got so old to team up? This one's no 'Heat' but 50 Cent, John Leguizamo, and Donnie Walberg round out the cast to an otherwise fair movie.
Have you seen Bangkok Dangerous yet? I saw it this weekend and really enjoyed it! Nicolas Cage once again proves himself as an action star that you can feel for. The story is intense with a beautiful blend of violence and romance. The people and environment of Thailand really take this film to another level. Murder, love, and friendship all come together in The Pang Brothers excellent remake of their own movie from 1999. This ones got style!
This movie was suspenseful, intense, and unpredictable! And the subject matter was spot on for the times we are living in. Don Cheadle leads a cast of fine actors who craft a thrilling tale of terrorism. Are terrorists really in our own back yard? The story openly examines our homeland security and addresses the difference between true Islam and fanaticism. All this rolled up into an international thrill ride directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff! Treat yourself to this gem. And you be the judge as to who's the TRAITOR!
"Escapism" The late great James Brown sang about it. And Babylon A.D. is a great example of it. I'm going through a housing problem and this movie just scooped me out of reality and made me forget my troubles. Vin Diesel was super cool! And Michelle Yeoh was super rad! But the story and some of the scenes seemed far fetched, contrived, and formula. On top of that, the ending left me hanging in a bad way. Oh well, back to reality...
This movie was pretty hilarious! It was like a classic Cheech & Chong film with a modern day twist. Seth Rogen worked his magic as actor, writer, and producer. And James Franco played his role to perfection. He even seemed liberated. The cast and story are real creative. And mamacita Rosie Perez nails a new type of role we've never seen her in. Eat some popcorn and have fun with this one!
Who said a grown man ain't suppose to cry?! I havce to admit, The Longshots jerked a tear or two from me. It's a heart warming, emotional family drama that's very well acted by Ice Cube and Keke Palmer. Not to mention Limp Bizkit's front man Fred Durst, who really directed an inspiring film for kids and adults alike. If you and/or the family want to see a movie that's worth its weight (and the ticket price) check this one out!
