Well, the theater was unusually packed this evening. All the Black Friday shoppers must have decided to see the same movie as little old me.
Which actually turned out to be pretty cool! Because when Vince Vaughn or Reese Witherspoon kicked in the comedy, I wasn't the only one cracking up. The many versions of laughter I heard around me was a true testament to how incredibly funny this movie was.
I would even be thinking "Jesus! That's exactly how my family acts!" or "That happened to me too!" as I busted up laughing!
Four Christmases has a wonderfully talented cast! And it was great to see the "Swingers" reunite for another excellent comedy!
Here is one of those extraordinary films that come around once in a blue moon. From the acting to the directing, to the story and cinematography, the entire production was simply spectacular!
Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman were magic together on screen. This is what great acting is all about! Their performance and chemistry were just fantastic!
I thoroughly enjoyed the trip "down under" to an adventurous and exotic world where "Raiders of the Lost Ark" meets "Casablanca" with an aborigine twist!
"Australia" is dramatic, cinematic and an instant classic!
Why do I keep seeing Jason Statham in these silly action movies? It's my fault really! I'm a sucker for bang bang, shoot 'em up, explosive cinema. It's in my blood. Ever since I was a kid I ran to see Arnold or Stallone blow up the world to save the day!
Transporter 3 is the same formula: simple plot, simple love interest, with knock-your-socks-off fight scenes and chases. What better way to put down your popcorn? I preferred the sexy Death Race co-star Natalie Martinez over this annoying broken English speaking Russian. However, the casting tables turn creatively with a British hero versus a most sinister American villian.
What I'm really waiting to see is Luc Besson back in the director's chair! TRANSPORT me to that motion picture!
For me, it was one of those days when my mother chose to get on my last nerve. She was being a real pest and acting real annoying. Taking in an evening movie was the perfect escape from all that.
And BOLT was the perfect movie for me. Fun and adventurous, Walt Disney's latest animated extravaganza is filled with action and heart warming scenes that made me forget my troubles and appreciate life's journey.
John Travolta's super cool voice talent gave this cartoon dog real personality! And the unique story and underlying theme of friendship are ones we can all appreciate. This is a film the whole family can enjoy! Maybe I'll see it a second time...with my Mom.
Daniel Craig's James Bond has got to be THE coolest cat on the screen! He makes me want to be 007 for at least one day. I mean what dude wouldn't want to travel the globe to save the world, wearing his smooth wardrobe, with driving skills like a Nascar racer, pilot skills like an airforce ace, not to mention extreme fighting skills, and beautiful women throwing themselves at you. That's what I call living! And isn't that what a great movie is about? Seeing yourself living through the main character? Quantum of Solace captivated me from begining to end. However, when I was leaving the theater, I heard someone behind me say "But there were no cool gadgets". Guess you can't please everyone. Nonetheless, I for one was thoroughly entertained!
I liked this movie-movie! You'll like this movie-movie too! It's great fun to watch! I saw the IMAX version at the local AMC which made the visuals even more breathtaking and put me right into Dreamwork's animated action.
This is a film that both kids and adults can enjoy. It's got an entertaining story full of comedy, adventure, and even a little animal romance. The original voice talents behind the characters are back again and delver top notch performances! And the late great Bernie Mac joins the flock bringing life and compassion to his roll. I highly recommend this flic.
But WARNING TO PARENTS: There is unfortunately some homosexual humor which didn't sit well with me since this movie is targeted at children.
I'd have to say this was one of my better AMC movie experiences. I got to the theater with time to spare. The ticket line moved quickly. The cinema snacks were good except for the slightly stale popcorn. There was no inconsiderate person putting his foot up on the seat next to me. And nobody talked needlessly during the film. The previews were good too. As for "RocknRolla"...well, for Guy Ritchie it was better than "Revolver" but not as good as SnatchwithBrad Pitt. A little too much gay humor in this one. But the story was creative and like his roots, very English. The cast was nice and I must say Thandie Newton was very pleasing to watch.
Hey! Hey! Do you want to see some really good acting? I'm talking REALLY good acting. Then check out "Pride And Glory". Edward Norton, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight and the entire cast are at the top of their game in this corrupt cop crime drama. The story, set in my home town of New York City was intense. Hats off to Gavin O'Connor for directing a film that felt so real. After being let down hard by "Righteous Kill" it was nice to be uplifted by this quality piece of movie magic.
Remember when Mark Wahlberg use to rap? Well, he's a much better actor. Unfortunately, Max Payne's poor directing and a weak story distract from his talent. Like the blonde bombshell with no brains, director John Moore focuses on superficial style rather than real story substance. Plus there was too much explanitory dialogue as well as ridiculous story elements, typical of amateur screenwriting. And not to hate, but Ludacris' bad acting took the movie down another notch. I saw this movie on its opening day, wanting to enjoy it. Instead I ask myself "Why?"
Once again DiCaprio, Crowe, and Scott have added a fine piece of cinema to their credits. This ones got it all: outstanding acting, superb directing, and a story that kept me on the edge of my seat. Body Of Lies pulls you right into the action and doesn't let you go until the end. Not to mention the beautiful and intelligent Middle Eastern love interest for our American hero! If you're smart, go see this! Otherwise go see that Chihuahua movie!
