Now, you don't think I spend all my free time in a movie theater! I do take part in an ancient pastime forgotten by most called READING! Yes! And I've done some study into the international bankers and found the storyline in The International to ring true!
Not only did this film have a powerful message but it was full of action, suspense, mystery, murder, and of course great acting by the actor of actors Clive Owen!
Once in a while Hollywood produces a film that makes me cheer for the courage taken to tackle subject matter the media would rather the public not know about.
The International is one of those provocative movies that entertains & enlightens audiences as to "What's Really Going On" in our world!
If you want to see something different, creative, and fun then definately check out Coraline!
Dakota Fanning did a fantastic job voicing this quirky yet cool animated heroine.
The stop motion, art, and visuals were really captivating. Watching this film was like a breath of fresh air! It stimulated the senses with its organic use of color, movement, and sound.
And the story had its interesting twists and turns too. However, it was a little scary at times. Okay, I'm a scaredy-cat!
Adults who like animation will get a kick out of this one. But children could get spooked by the macabre imagery.
The Human Torch is Back! This time he's a different type of super hero and minus a costume. But where's Jessica Alba when you need her?
"Cause this ain't the Fantastic 4. More like the Fantastic 2 as he teams up with Dakota Fanning (who was excellent in Man On Fire). Unfortunately, she and Chris Evans just don't light up in PUSH.
This one's "X-Men On Acid" or a poor attempt at copying the "Jumper" formula. So many characters and so little time. I just couldn't sink my teeth into anyone.
And it's Bring on the Black Bad Guy again. Not Samuel L. with blond hair but just the same.
I got an idea Hollywood. Let's get creative and cast Djimon Hounsou as Marvel's Black Panther. Now that'd be a cool movie to watch!
Japanese Anime just doesn't get any better than this! And to be able to watch it on the big screen was a fantastic experience!
Sword of the Stranger is action packed with characters that you can really feel for. The fight sequences are intense, dynamic, and they grab you with their dazzling display of martial arts!
The English voice talent behind the animation is top notch. The actors give stellar performances that truly bring these Japanese drawings to LIFE!
And the art and backgrounds are beautifully rendered and very cinematic. While the music score sweeps you up into this historical drama!
If you missed the "One Night Only" screening, definitely catch this one on DVD!
Inkheart was good. But I think it had the potential to be a much better movie.
The story concept of someone being able to bring elements of a book to life was very creative. But the first two acts of this film just felt loosely written. It seemed silly and contrived up until a very cool ending which made this movie special.
Not to mention an awesome cameo by a popular actress that I won't give away.
I'm sure the DVD release of Inkheart will contain features that will make it really worth watching.
The best thing about this moviegoing experience was the FREE large popcorn and soda I got from racking up points on my AMC Movie Watcher card! And with my blood sugar so high, even I felt like a MONSTER! OWWW!
However, Underworld: Part 3 or Episode One had all the pitfalls as any film jumping on the prequel bandwagon. The risks aren't there when you know who lives and who dies and when the plot is predictable.
Funny, I really liked the very first Underworld movie. I saw it twice in the theater and even own the DVD.
With this one I felt like my Friday night had been entertained by a television show. But what do I know? It was a sold out screening and most people clapped at the end. Check it. You might like it.
I'd read about these rebel Jews who fought against the Nazi several years ago. Not in any American school curriculum mind you. I was doing some independent research and came across this fascinating bit of history. To finally see a movie made about these honorable chaps was incredibly satisfying.
Defiance is an Edward Zwick masterpiece! He was the perfect director (Glory/ Last Samurai) to craft this wartime drama about family, community, hope and survival.
And Liev Schrieber's performance was magnificent! Somebody give that boy an Oscar!
Now I'm ready for the Nat Turner bio-pic starring Will Smith, directed by Spike Lee, and based off the Kyle Baker graphic novel! But who'd have the balls to fund it?
I actually saw this movie and survived to say it was really good!
Remember back in the day when people would literally lose their life going to see a movie like this? I recall hearing that movie goers got shot watching Boyz N The Hood. Now that's what I call "die hard" movie fans.
All bad jokes aside, Notorious captured me completely. It's an inspirational film that goes to show that with talent, dedication, and the right contacts, you can go far. It also goes to show that drug dealing, womanizing, and the gangster mentality are roads of regret with a hard dead end.
Check this one out y'all! Even if it's just to see Derek Luke dance around like Puffy!
You know...I just couldn't believe that Bedtime Stories beat out Benjamin Button at the box office. So naturally I had to see what this film was all about. And I was pleasantly surprised to find myself feeling like a kid again as I watched Adam Sandler's antics on screen!
This is a movie that can bring out the creative child in all of us. And it's good clean fun for the whole family...even the hamster!
I'm a fairly new Sandler fan and really dig his approach to comedy. He doesn't have to be over the top to make you laugh. He's a natural. And with Guy Pearce and the Sandler ensemble in Bedtime Stories you won't go wrong watching this one!
I was just watching the classic "Fist Full Of Dollars" on the AMC channel this morning. Clint is spectacular in that film! So I had to check out his latest flic this afternoon to make it an Eastwood Day!
And boy was I not disappointed! Gran Torino is a powerful film that the old timer not only stars in but directs as well. It's a gripping drama that addresses race, friendship, and family.
The dialogue is fresh, the story moves, and there's lots of laughs. Go see this legend of cinema in an all new light!
