Clooney Keeping It Creative!

Who wants to see the same old movie every time they go to the theater? Not me! That's why I left the movie house with a smile on my face after watching The Men Who Stare At Goats!
This film was very entertaining, peculiar and odd! To be honest, I didn't really laugh until the very end. But what a journey I was taken on!
The cast was first rate. Jeff "The Dude" Bridges was meant for this roll. And as obsurd as some of the material was, a spiritual message could not be missed.
Stop staring at that goat and go see this movie! :p
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A Complete Entertainer!

Michael Jackson was an incredibly talented artist! And "This Is It" gives you a glimpse of what made him so spectacular.
Director Kenny Ortega creates an entertaining film from behind-the-scene footage that captured Michael at work.
He still had the dance moves! And he still had the power to elevate the audience with his voice and soul! I was also amazed at how healthy he looked on stage.
It is a shame his life was cut short by a medical doctor. This movie is a testament of the love, talent, and professionalism that made Michael and his music so awesome!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Good Hair: Great Documentary!

Chris Rock returns in this hilarious and powerful documentary about Black women and the enormous amounts of money they spend on thier hair.
It may not seem like a subject worthy of a film. But in fact it is! Chris takes you behind the scenes, from the salons in America to the "human hair" factories in India.
And with a plethora of interviews, from Ice-T to Maya Angelou, you get real funny and candid commentary.
As a father of two girls, Chris also examines the social side of "hair processing" and how it can effect the self-esteem of young African-American women.
In the end, you have to ask: Is all the money spent, and exposure to chemicals, really worth straightening your hair to look more European?
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Plotless Powerhouse!

The visuals were awesome in this movie. But what happened to the plot? The story just wandered along without aim. And my mind began to drift off as a result.
All the action and excitement is contained in the trailer. I really wanted to LOVE this film but sadly was heart broken!
However, Nic Cage and Donald Sutherland braught real character to their voice-over rolls.
I hope the kids in the audience enjoyed Astro Boy more than I did.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

All Around Awesome!

F.Gary Gray has come a long way since directing the original "Friday". "The Negotiator" was great. But "Law Abiding Citizen" is probably his best work to date.
This film had a very compeling story with intense action. And Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler were powerful in their rolls which crossed the lines of hero and villian.
What a visually incredible movie to WATCH. The cinematography and shots were composed so artfully.
If a director is like a painter, this is F.Gary Gray's masterpiece!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Psycho-Therapy Cinema!

The "Swingers" are back at it again!
However, there was too much psychology and therapy going on in this film.
I felt like I was constantly being pounded in the head with "after school special" messages on morality and life, instead of being entertained.
The Guitar Hero scene could have been directed and edited with more style. The pseudo-spiritual content was a turn-off. And the stereotypical African-American characters were just tacky. I could totally tell a White person with very little expereince with REAL Black wrote these characters.
In the end, Vince and Jon let me down. I laughed a few times, but this is not one of their better movies.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This was a really good documentary! It enlightened me on human and environmental violations that I knew nothing about.
I learned that Chevron/ Texaco has been up to some dirty deeds in the Ecuadorean Amazon, and the results are devastating. Whole groups of people are dying because of oil/gas related toxic waste.
Fortunately, a few legal soldiers are fighting the good fight to bring justice to a people often without a voice.
Director Joe Berlinger presents both sides of the issue in this controversial film. In the end, you get to be the judge as to who is the REAL bad guy.
Crude is a tragic story that must be seen. Discover what's really behind the gas in your tank in this mind blowing film.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Robots Die Hard!

"Surrogates" leaps off the graphic novel page and onto the big screen in a real creative and dynamic way.
The story is very clever, with twists and turns that keep you entertained. And Bruce Willis' acting is really intense!
It felt like "The Matrix" mixed with "I, Robot" with a touch of "Pulp Fiction". Yet it was original and the ingredients blended well in this futuristic "Die Hard".
There were some slow moments. But the overall action and message in the end made up for it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

An Animated Classic!

Wow! This movie was so much better than what I expected! It had a great story, off-the-wall characters, and lots of action! Not to mention the awesome 3-D!
I hadn't seen a 3-D movie in years! And as soon as I put my glasses on, the movie just jumped off the screen!
Cloudy With A Chance...was also more racially diverse than most Disney/ Pixar films without compromising anything.
I mean, this movie even had the late great Mr.T doing a voice! For someone who use to watch the A-Team, that totally thrilled me!
And as a fellow geek/ nerd, it was nice to see a goofy inventor as the hero of the story. His relationship with his father was really touching too.
Treat yourself to one DELICIOUS movie! You'll be glad you did!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Crazy Corporate Criminal!

The Informant is a cleverly made character driven movie with the pacing and style of European cinema.
That said, it might be a little hard to digest for the average American movie-goer. But it sure is different than your typical run-of-the-mill Hollywood motion picture.
Matt Damon vividly portrays a complex character with real personal issues. I totally forgot the celebrity and was drawn into the white collar crime world of this quirky fellow.
This isn't "Borne Identity" but it IS a most unique film, proving Matt's versatility as an actor!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
