Wonderful to see the man in the hat again. To be taken to his world again is always like coming home. Ah, to hear the March in a theater.
Seeing Jones in his den dorking out about languages and maps and adventures was like old times. Seeing him get angry and sarcastic felt real.
Unfortunately, the action sequences seemed like live-action performances at Disneyland (and I love Disneyland). Indy was in no danger and the blue-screen felt omnipresent.
The story rambled along and everyone made the best of it. The reunion-show feel was awkward and even the reference to the Ark felt contrived. The cavernous warehouse didn't compare to the original - not big or grainy enough somehow.
It was a fair effort. Nothing to run out and buy the DVD over. Regardless, a thousand thank yous to Lucas, Spielberg, and Ford for giving it one last shot.
