This movie was stupid, made no sense, was neither realistic nor remotely believable, yet somehow it "oozed" with coolness and was extremely entertaining. Please forgive me for having enjoyed it.
Good old fashioned shoot em up Western, done with modern production techniques. Looked like it was shot with HD cameras. Top notch acting throughout. See this movie if your a fan of Westerns, infact, see it even if your not.
Through the use of introspective "snapshots" of both the peronal and public life of the Bush family, Mr. Stone has illustrated new perspectives of the inner workings of the White House and modern politics. I dont think it was the directors intention to actually "spell out" what happened, but rather to suggest, through this story, what might have taken place. The overall production was excellent, and Josh Brolin's portrayal of "W" was quite authentic. If politics is a subject of disscusion at your family dinner table, I would not let this movie slip by without a viewing.
Its been a long time since Hollywood has put out a spy thriller that is actually believable. Great stunt work combined with exceptional acting and story telling, all add up to a formula that says, " To see this movie is to avoid disappointment". I left the theater with that one of a kind magical feeling that somebody had told me a story, but did not "yank my chain."I guess if you throw Russell, Leonardo, and Ridley into the same mix, it would be difficult to expect anything less.
Spike Lee certainly has a reputation for making "deep" movies and this production is no exception. He manages to touch on issues related to race, religion, morals, war, crimes against humanity and FAITH all at the same time without being pretentious. My hat is off to Mr. Lee for making such a wonderful movie. I actually rate this production at 4 and 1/2 stars.
Nobody but nobody plays an angry, disgruntled, opinionated man better than Samuel L. Jackson and in this film he certainly doesnt dissapoint. However, this motion picture does not just rely on Jacksons's acting talents alone, for there is a genuinely twisted and suspenseful plot that will leave you guessing as to what happens next instead of the usual predictable fanfare. This is one flick where the previews only touch the tip of the iceberg, instead of giving away the best highlights of a picture as they often do. Worthwhile viewing.
This is the classiest comedy that I have had the pleasure of seeing so far this year. The acting is on par with the best performances I have ever seen, regardless of the genre. Very few if any comedies ever make me want to watch them more than once (with the exception of some Marx Brothers movies), but the ticket agent dispensing passes for this flick should not be surprised if my face makes an encore appearance in her line.
I am sorry to hear that this movie got so many bad reviews, but I thought Nicolas Cage did an outstanding job of both playing hero and villan at the same time. There were a few parts of the movie that didn't really work (I'd give it a 3& half star rating if I could) but overall the good far outweighed the bad and the cinematography / production was quite respectable.
Well, I would have to say that if ever Vin Diesel came close to doing a "B" movie, this is it. Better suited to being released as a "Made For Television Movie", this production has somehow snuck into theaters as a first run release. This flick is fair at best, especially in this day and age where computer generated special effects can make just about any movie look interesting, I found Babylon A.D. to be lacking in this department also..
