I think it is a given, that any creation by Disney/Pixar will have state of the art animation and cinematography. Having said that, this flick ups the ante with a tale that will melt the hearts of all that are wise enough to see it..
Imagine if you will : A movie about teenage Vampires and Werewolves, that attend high school, Beverly Hills 90210 style, need I say more.............. Given this handicap, it is actually an OK movie, with good acting, special effects, and well above average cinematography. I thought this was going to be a waste of time, but was instead pleasantly entertained.
I don't know where Hollywood.com gets off giving this flick a 1/2 star rating, but this movie is an example of glorious classic film-making with an HD twist. Acting, cinematography, creature special effects, and a realistic re-creation of 19th century England were all imparted to the viewer with the utmost of quality expressiveness and meticulous craftsmanship. The cadence of the movie and the editing could have been better executed, but all in all, a very worthwhile flick.
Apparently Quentin Tarantino has a strong dislike for N@zis, and uses this movie as a vehicle to display his sentiments. Who can blame him? Typical Tarantino overuse of gore (somehow, when he does it, the effect is not lost), but certainly a very atypical perspective on a subject which has been explored from just about every possible angle. + rep to Tarantino for an excellent movie.
What an amazing movie. Just about the best photography and production I've seen for any movie ever. Don't wait for the DVD, see it on the big screen in a really good theater. Michael Mann recreates 1930's era USA with realism beyond description. Depp nails the role of Dillinger, and the acting is top notch throughout. Few movies make me want to watch them a second time, but this is one of them.
This flick is scary, stupid, funny, grotesque, and mysterious, all at the same time. Quite a collection of attributes that somehow all work well together.Throw in the proverbial Hitchcockian flavoured twist for a finale, and the end result is a movie who's entertainment factor doesn't make it a suspenseful masterpiece, but still makes it worth seeing.
Very nice claymation style 3d special effects with a warm, heartfelt, simple story line. Perhaps geared more towards children, but I enjoyed it anyway.
Awesome movie. Plot and storyline could have been a little better, but the special effects were so realistic and engulfing, that anybody who didn't like this movie "should be shot in the head 23 times
