The X-Files: I Want To Believe

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. It was great to see Fox Mulder and Dana Scully on the screen again, six years after the end of the television series. The characters themselves had not been suspended in time, and had gone on for six years in their 'lives.'
The plot was labrynthine, multi-layered and quite deep on a psychological and religious level ... with faith (not necessarily in a higher power) and refusing to give up being a key element to the story and the characters.
There are several subplots running through the story, and the time goes fast in the theatre. Having seen it twice has helped clarify some points I missed during the first viewing.
Some 'reading between the lines' might be necessary.
Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz threw quite a few very nice bones to the 'old guard' fans, by using visuals that mean something to them but would NOT hamper a new viewer's experience.
There were laugh-out loud moments and also moments that made you jump.
Given the LOW production budget of the film, in this day and age of massive CGI SFX, the film performed quite well and was beautifully lensed by Bill Roe..
My only true complaint about the film was Fox Studios' impressive *LACK* of PR, marketing and advertisement until just two weeks before the premiere. They let it to word of mouth via the X-Files fans, and therefore, if the film does not perform well at the theatres, it's my opinion that Fox shot themselves in the foot by NOT doing more to promote the film.
I hope there will be an X-Files 3, to go back into the show's mytharc and the 'end of the world' scenario as was predicted/envisioned by the show's creators/producers.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
