It was the typical special effects laden action fest that has become the norm in Hollywood in this genre. Enough so that it's not really special any longer. The acting was a little wooden and the story felt flat and somewhat unrealistic. Most of the dialogue, even when lifted from the original, didn't come off well. The action scenes are worth a watch and you'll find yourself drumming your fingers during everything else. There's no real sense of suspense during the slower scenes and nothing about the actors really draws you in. For such a richly executed world there's never a chance to really see it and get caught up in the enviroment either (say ala Blade Runner). In the end it's great if you have nothing else to do and can get through the first bits until the action kicks in and, basically, just forget plot and story which is by far secondary in this film. Just go and watch it like a fireworks display and you'll be satisfied. You won't be thrilled but you'll be satisfied.
