as a diehard indiana jones fan, it's hard for me to accept the fourth as a part of the series. it's even harder for me to understand why spielberg would want to resurrect something so brilliant such as the original trilogy- and completely deface it with a new addition that hardly bears any resemblance to the old.
on top of that, the action sequences were unrealistic or completely absurd (i'm trying to avoid spoilers, you'll recognize the scenes). one of the only aspects of the new that i appreciate is the old school slapstick sound effects during the fight scenes. these scenes were overplayed and fake; the old ones can be seen as this too, but they were not even believable. i felt as if i was in disneyworld watching the stunt show.
the set design was dreadful, everything was "nice and clean" even in the jungle. the set design along with the dialogue, death sequences, and sidekicks are just some of the examples of an homage trying too hard.
this new addition to the greatest trilogy of all time (besides OG star wars) is an enormous disappointment that i could vent upon for hours if you haven't already realized that.
go see this movie if you want to see why remakes or extensions shouldn't occur.
