This movie is the saviour of the 2009 movies. This movie was intoxicatingly "real." It was refreshing to see 2 normal people interacting and actually having "normal" relationship issues. The movie doesn't give audience members false hope of finding Mr/Ms Perfect. It helps you realize that everyone has some kind of flaw or insecurity, but that life does go on afterward.
The characters were endearing and both Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel do a fabulous job with helping the audience buy into the plot. I caught the 3:30 matinee and then bought a 2nd ticket for the next showing. I will own this when it comes out.
I have been a huge Adam Sandler fan for years; however, his last few movies have just not been good. This one, unfortunately, is included in that category too. Funny People has some very "cutesy" moments, but overall, it was overfilled with juvenile, gutteral humor that only teens would find amusing. The plot was awesome, but the actors did not deliver. Jonah Hill was the best part of this movie. He stays true to character. Seth Rogen was disappointing. Leslie Mann was also a great asset for this movie. She and her kids are consistently believable, funny, and have an identifiable lovingness about them.
I am a huge Nicholas Cage fan; however, this movie disappointed me. Albeit, there were some great effects, the whole premise of the movie was failed with the ending. Aliens guiding the whole thing? Come on. At least make the whole thing come together a little better.
I am not a fan of Bush in any way. However, after seeing this movie, I have at least a little more respect for the man. I understand now why he is what he is. Stone was able to show the greedy side of Bush as well as the needy side. Bush was a spoiled rich kid who lived in the shadow of his overachieving brother Jeb. The movie was funny, poignant, and showed the lengths politicians will go to fill their pockets. A must see
Very disappointing "film." The movie was gruesome without justification. The plot was weak. The introduction of the detective as a fledgling jigsaw was just ridiculous. By showing JigSaw helping the detective, it cheapened the acumen of the original killer's work.
I'm not a big Batman fan; however, the overall movie was great (even for girls). I thought that Christian Bale's voice as Batman was odd, but overall he did a great job with the character. The defining and highlight of the movie of course is Heath Ledger. His portrayal of The Joker is 5 stars. He became completely absorbed in his character.
