The performance capture technique has yet to eliminate the 'creep factor' that the characters elicit. Why conscript this talented group of actors to such a device?
The Good: Dialogue lifted right from the original text. Marley was particularly well done.
The Bad: Scrooge's facial details too exaggerated. Gary Oldman's wonderful performance suffered because of the distorted physicality of his character on screen. Chase scene and shrinking of Scrooge during Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come segment was completely unnecessary and detracted from the story at a crucial time.
One can only think of what this movie would have been like with the same cast but with special effects added only as needed (think LOTR).
