Having read all of the Chronicles of Narnia over 20 times, I cannot hold any screenwriter to the high call of sticking to the book. This movie works brilliantly independent from C.S. Lewis' original work in that it takes the viewer to Prince Caspian at the point where he has learned his Narnian history and is ready to take on his role. The discerning viewer will become swept away quickly by his determination to usurp the usurper. Some comic relief woven into the original work by C.S. Lewis with Giant Wimbleweather, and a few more utterings of "Giants and junipers" by Trumpkin the Dwarf would have suited me, but are not necessary to the plot. The casting is great, the kids are growing into their roles with a special kudos to Edmund. I can't wait for "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" ! Just don't go to this movie expecting C.S. Lewis. Expect to see a fine, well-written and directed action adventure movie to begin your summer viewing. Go see it before you see something with less intellectual stimulation.
