Don't bother believing!

I was very, very disappointed by this movie. Obviously, this sequel was less about the X-Files and more about the romance between Scully and Mulder. Boring plot and a few absolutely pointless characters. Watch the series, rent the first movie and just settle with the fact that the X-Files will never be closed. This is one final installment that should never have been.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

This movie was certainly action-packed and entertaining. Having seen been extremely impressed with the first movie I did have some high expectations....and I'd say they were met. Though there are a few references to objects and events from the first movie, you don't necessarily need to have seen the first movie or even read the books to understand the plot line here. For those with younger children, this movie is certainly more intense that the first. There are a lot of battle scenes and a few more "scary" characters. But, overall, I'd certainly recommend it to others! Enjoy!
