A Great First Star Trek For A Non-Trekkie

I've never seen a Star Trek TV show, movie or anything...last night was the first. And I loved it. JJ Abrams did a great job of creating a believable un-believable world. The special effects were crazy. The acting was good enough (no one is winning an Oscar, but that's not what I'm there to watch anyway...at least there weren't any Jar-Jar Binx idiots). I also liked the themes of the movie...dealing with emotions of grief, trust and friendship. I'm looking forward to the next movie and some heavier plot lines. This was a great first movie, like Batman Begins; now we need a Dark Knight!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
