This was a lot of fun! My 12 yo son kept whispering the places where it departed from the animated version, but that is to be expected.
The acting was really good, especially Katara. Her face was really expressive for one so young - just as her character should be. Uncle Iroh was a surprise, and I would have preferred a lighter character.
The scenery was beautiful and the sweeping views of Earth and the various kingdoms were really awesome. Aang's tattoos were really cool-looking and it was nice how all the characters were re-imagined.
The action sequences were dynamic and the finale was especially grand. It had the right ratio of slowed action without using tired-and-too-often-used -visuals. It looked fresh.
I recommend this movie for a nice outing of pure entertainment.
This was a really fun movie! The scenery was gorgeous. Such a treat to have hand-drawn animation back! Go see it & support this return to classic Disney magic! My 12 year old son & 19 yo daughter both enjoyed it very much. My son, despite the fact it was a "princess" movie was charmed by the comic themes, accents, & adventure. She's not your typical princess, after all :) This film has of course been in production for over 3 years, like all greats from Disney Animation Studios. There is some creepy voodoo villain, but not any scarier (possibly less so) than other villains. Our family is so pleased to have the characters singing their own songs again. Tiana is a beautiful heroine!
We saw this during the Child Summer Movie special, & it was fun. My son would whisper to me about certain characters he assumed I knew nothing about :) I was surprised some of the original actors supplied voices - that made it nicer.
Great movie! Really LOL funny, with new stuff -NOT just the warmed up rehash of a typical sequel. Far better than Ice Age 2, Dawn of the Dinosaurs provides a ride that gets better as you go and doesn't lag in the middle. Bravo... oh, and Scrat finally meets a girl. Go see it :)
This was a really funny movie for kids and parents alike w/ no "painful-to-sit-through" moments! We had an adult, an 18 yo, and two 10's, boy / girl mix, and were all assailed pleasantly by fun music, themes, and cute doggies! It had lots of visual appeal and a nice variety of locations - with the funny and expected culture clash situations throughout, all wholesome but not cheesy. Also, having some Hispanic heritage, there was nothing for anybody to be offended by in any respect - there were goofballs and noble characters on both sides. Very cute, very visual and charming! We can't wait for the video :)
Indy has definitely still got it! Shia Leboef's Mutt apparently has it too :) My daughter & I loved this film. She'd only recently seen the orig so it was lots of fun! The blend of old and new was deftly presented - and bringing back a blast from his past was a great bit. It brought some playful warm fuzzies and sparring -very cute, very Indy. NOT a warmed over, banal sequel - it had a really interesting plot and armchair archaeologists will love the bits of antiquity thrown in throughout. Action scenes were lively (NOT too long) and Cate's Russian brainiac was perfectly in keeping with charismatic worthy foes. Bottom Line -Go see it! If you haven't seen any Indiana Jones films previously, you might want to rent the first one to acquaint you with things, but it does stand alone if you can't wait. Might not be the best for under 11-12.
