Despite what I had heard, my family and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this movie! It was highly entertaining, full of action, humor, and more. (My husband's attention was certainly kept with the hot-looking Scarlett Johannsen and Gwyneth Paltrow!) Never a dull moment.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I love independent films, and "Calvin Marshall" is a perfect example of why. Refreshing different from the usual Hollywood rubbish, this film has heart, has a message, has a great story and a great cast. Steve Zahn is fantastic as the has-been minor-league ballplayer turned college coach; we're sure to be seeing more of Alex Frost, who plays the very likeable Calvin Marshall. Reminiscent of early John Cusack. I just wish more people would KNOW about movies like these...unfortunately independent filmmakers don't have the money behind them that the big Hollywood studios do.
Less than halfway through, my entire group of 8 was WISHING the world would end so we wouldn't have to see the rest of this terrible movie. John Cusack is one of my favorite actors, but to see him and other talented people have to LABOR through this terrible, cheesy script was too much to bear. Sure, the special effects were awesome...but they should have taken half the budget spent on those effects and used it to buy a better screenwriter!!!!
