This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, maybe years. The movie had depth and it breathed beautifully. Gwyneth was truly superb right on down to her amazing vocals. I'm head over tails in love with this movie from beginning, middle to end. The movie didn't feel like a movie, it felt like a real story with real Americana scenes without the Hollywood slick effects. It had so many beautiful surprises and moments. I loved how the director did not rush the movie and let the shots play out without so many quick edits. It had some really tender moments. I'm absolutely moved with the power of this film. It had the magic that most movies don't capture these days.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

It pains me to even admit this but I nearly walked out of the movie. It simply didn't work for me. It felt like actors wearing cowboy costumes and the set design of the town didn't work for me. It felt too modern. The highlight by far was the acting of the 14 year old girl. She in many ways stole the show. Bridges was good not great, Damon was very weak ... I didn't get a good feel for their characters which hardly developed. The ending was weird and was thrown together too quickly. The grown up girl looked like the witch from the Wizard of Oz.. There were some gorgeous scene setters, but over all it didn't have the "Cohen Brother" touch. I was vastly disappointed.
While the film was cute, and about what I expected, I could have done without all the references to casual hook-ups. This is definitely more of a date movie than an outing for 12-year-olds.
