Fast start with fast plot development... sloooows!

Although my boy seemed to be interested in the movie, he hasn't mentioned it too much since we left. It did have some entertainment value but the plot development went at light speed in the beginning making it difficult to follow for a child (flashbacks). Seemed they could have taken more time with the plot development since it is a two hour-ish movie. The second half of the movie drags and seems to only pick up when the races or fights happened. I could do without the "What the f...." statement made by John Goodman during the "earthquake" in the kitchen scene. He didn't say the f word but almost did and there was absolutely no need for it. It didn't develop anything and had no value. The kid flipping the bird caused quite a laugh among the kids in the audience, but I can see this being repeated at school or day cares around the nation. It's just not good. I expected a Cars type movie with a plot that would be easy to follow for a child, but I was disappointed. I just don't see how this was a good movie for kids since the plot was fast and hard to follow. I don't recommend this movie, but feel free to see it and determine for yourself if a child would be able to grasp the true concept of the movie. Great visuals and special effects... but it's lost from there.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
