Having only seen bits and pieces, thankfully, of the original "Tron," I was a bit skeptical of "Tron: Legacy." From the previews, I thought it was essentially going to be about racing the light cycles. Thankfully, again, I was wrong.
The effects were wonderful, and the price of the movie was worth it to see Michael Sheen, who played the role of Castor/Zuse to perfection, essentially a sci-fi version of Tim Curry's Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
I would have given it five stars had there not been significant holes in the story. First, how does The Grid and, more particularly, the ISOs hold the key to eliminating the world's problems. I would imagine some of the answers were left out in anticipation of a sequel.
The movie could not have been cast better. Unfortunately, they couldn't save the plot or cinematics. The movie was about 20 minutes too long. I'm sure the director was going for the comic strip look, but with all the neon effects, I felt like I was in an updated version of 'Tron.'
