Not a speed freak

While it was mostly entertaining and diverting, the hyperkenetic pacing, overlong race sequences and extremely thin plot made Speed Racer something of a mess. Understand that I came expecting speed, racing and little plot. The problem was that it exceeded my expectations. Visually, the movie was stunning and the Wachowskis fulfilled nostalgic needs by using some sequences that were, in my mind at least, structured almost identically to similar scenes in the cartoon. While very cool, it just wasn’t enough. Go see it if you like—you’ll certainly be entertained—but leave all your expectations at the door.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
