The movie avoids many of the prequel mistakes of carbon copying every element of previous renditions. The death of Uncle Ben is done totally different, the background of Peters father is richer, and Gwen Stacy is not a minor character anymore.
Andrew Garfield does a great job as Spiderman, although he doesn't quite have the intense empathy that Toby Mcquire was able to portray. Garfield is acceptable in a way that is a possible version of Spiderman's persona. Perhaps keeping in line with not being a copy of Toby was purposeful. Also, Garfield is much taller, and a likely and believable fit for Stacy portrayed by Emma Stone. Whom had beautiful on screen chemistry with Garfield.
The special effects were in some way better than other Spiderman's since their wern't so many shots of him quickly swinging between buildings but slower shots that kept it looking realistic..
Sometimes a movie comes along that has minor flaws but delivers entertainment. I would much rather have this presentation. The ultimate goal for me and a movie is to be entertained. The acting for the most part was believable. Jennifer Lawrence makes a compelling and beautiful woman that as a guy I would definitely court in my younger days. This is key for the male audience. In the Twilight series I never saw myself attracted to Kristen Stewart. I see Hunger Games continuing with the the other two parts of the series. There is so much material to be explored, and I look forward to the next saga.
Enjoyable summer fun. This movie has enough of the essential ingredients to keep one interested. It is a bit long, but overall nicely acted, and directed. CGI was great. I would give it 5 stars but they spent a bit too much time doing nothin, which only works when you have a great music background, or something to take up the slack such as actors expressions and such.
Despite some negative reviews crying about Avatars similarity to other movies, I loved it. There are literaly around 200 story themes available to us. There was a book published some time ago on this.
There is not one single movie with a relationship theme that wasn't repeated in another movie. In fact soap bibles subscribe to these tenants religiously. What makes Avatar great in so many ways are the twists and turns you experience on the way.
The beauty of Cameron's Vision. The way he uses his storytellying, scientific and artistic background to put together a seamless movie of awestruck beauty, and touching moments. If you ever fell in love, this movie will pull at your heartstrings. You will leave knowing what "i see you" means.
The movie stays true to its roots. The man and machine is explored in a different way. What is man's true nature when under the control of a devious cybernetic corporation? Who has more passion for its kind; man or machine? I think this movie will do well on second showings since it makes you think. There is more of a human connection to the man vs machine mystery in this movie then previous Terminator movies thanks to Sam Worthington. It is subtle, and unappreciated by some critics who were looking for real full flesh and human relationships, when standing in front of them (Moon Bloodgood & Sam Worthington) we get the futures representation of this. This may have gone over their heads, but not mine. This movie was ahead of its time.
this 2 hr and 6 minute movie goes by so quickly that you cant believe it. Lots of action. Casting was excellent. I recommend not watching any previews before watching this movie. Previews give away allot of great shots that should be savored while watching the actual movie.
Dark Knight has elements greatness sprinkled throughout. Memorable moments that puntuate the very fabric of its maniacal tone. Ledger delivers a unique and award winning performance as the Joker that has not seen any equals in my opinion. The purity of evil was explored like never before in a Batman movie. What motivates evil,? It is evil, and the pleasure thereof. Bringing this to the big screen earns a great deal of respect to the franchise. Having Bale helm the stern as Bruce Wayne keeps the movie harnessed within its believablity forum. Minor flaws with the movie being a tad too long, and the movie attempts to explore many aspects of good and evil that will definitely leave you with feeling like you had a very large 4 course meal of evil served, but with no time to fully digest the first part of the main course.
the movie stayed away from allot of cliche like dialog, even though there were elements of the plot that were not all that original. the acting was above par, and will smith is enjoyable to watch play the part of the reluctant drunken superheroe. the movie has several "key" moments that are memorable enough to warrant recommendation. in the end, that is what makes the movie special. conversely, the movie is short enough as to not wear out its welcome. leaving the theatre i overheard kids literally yell to their parents "awesome" and my impression was that the parents seemed pleased with the movie.
robert downey brings in a highly believable performance. paltrow , bridges, howard fit their characters to the tee. could not have found two better actors with downey and paltrow to lead this movie. the movie entertwines high action entertainment and a flirtatious love story all in in one.
fyi: wait until after the credits finish at the end to see the last scene.
