First of all, it was appropriate enough for children. There is a rather steamy scene in the first 30 minutes but you can see it coming and use your manual parental visual filters (hands over the eyes) if you feel the need. I took my 6 and 7 year old boys and they loved it.
It's a great redemption story told with enough humor and special effects to appeal to all audiences. Of all the well done casting choices, Jeff Bridges was my favorite by far.
Stan Lee's ubiquitous cameo was the best so far.
Overall, the comic book super hero genre has arrived and matured and a movie making vehicle and Iron Man is a great example of how a great story hidden away in the obscurity of comic books can be brought forward into an excellent mass appeal movie.
