I went to see Iron Man last night, and as a fan of the Marvel comic, I am impressed. They had to update the story somewhat for modern times(Afghanistan instead of Vietnam) , but they stuck pretty well to its roots. The movie is packed with action and has its comical moments as well. The characters were played well, in particular seeing Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stane (a much different character than "The Dude" ). The special effects were particularly well done, MUCH better than other Marvel movies such as the cartoonish Hulk and certain scenes in the Spider-Man films.
I would definitely recommend this film to just about anyone. There are some pretty intense war scenes and a brief lovemaking scene (nothing really vulgar or offensive), so you may want to leave the very young children (maybe under 10) at home, but otherwise I'd say it's safe.
