This opera presentation was the BEST I've ever seen...the camera work, the WORST. Rapid, maniacal panning from left to right, diagonally and in half-circles...did someone lose control of the camera? zoom in/zoom out...take Dramamine if you see it and hope they fix it before they replay it on PBS...although the small screen may help hide the erratic. Carmen, Don Jose and Esamillo were FANTASTIC...hurray for the substitute Escamillo...a little fast on his "torreador" but all else fabulous. Excellent costumes & sound.
Excellent presentation with amazing voices and creative minimalist staging. The intermission lasted about 60 seconds which ruined the start of the 2nd act but once the theatre catches on how to present these movies, well worth the effort to attend these one-day performances. What a thrill to see such talent from the best seat in the house!
