First I'd like to say that this movie will be the first movie I will EVER have seen in theaters more than once on its' original run.
Iron Man is my favorite all-time comic book character, and I have been waiting for about 4 years since the original announcement that this movie was coming out, and the rewrites and reworks were definitely worth the wait, because this movie did not disappoint me at all. I would've liked some extra scenes of Iron Man flat out kicking butt, but I understand that time had to be spent on the back story and building the mythos of Tony Stark.
The movie does everything that it had to do to set up a long and successful Iron Man series, not to mention the beginning of the build-up to an Avengers movie. It followed the comics close enough that someone who has read all 500+ Iron Man titles was pleased, while being an original enough story to stand on its' own.
My wife, who rolls her eyes every time I mention anything comic book related, also loved this movie. You definitely don't have to be a comic geek to enjoy and appreciate the Iron Man movie. It was so well done that I truly believe that this is a movie that every person in the known universe can watch and enjoy. The cast and crew have all signed on for multiple Iron Man movies, so to Jon Favreau and gang, I say; thank you and bring on the sequels!
