The Met HD Broadcasts are always delightful, and Hamlet was no exception. The opera has wonderful music, and was performed flawlessly. There is some technical glitch in the sound system that sometimes leads to a rumbling sound. It has occurred every tine I've attended, but only periodivally.
I thought it was just wonderful, and so did everyone I was with. The production is marvelous and ingenious, and the singing was sparkling and moving. The costumes were beautiful, and the use of puppetry was a wonderful innovation. The production values, as always, were superlative. I cannot say enough good things about this experience. If you love, like or even can tolerate opera, I strongly suggest you see it if you can.
We thoroughly enjoyed the show. We brought some friends, who were also enthusiastic. Everything about it was great - the cast, the production, the singing, the acting, the scenery and the production values of the film. We will certainly attend more of these in the future. We are regular patrons at the Met, and although it was not the same as a performance, it was a close second. We also thought that Renee Fleming did a wonderful job as MC at the beginning and during the intermission. The only problem was that, at the venue we attended - the Clearview theater in Parsippany, NJ, there was a low rumbling noise from some piece of machinery that continued throughout the film.
