Not that I can say I was even truly disappointed, just that I was somehow cheated of my money and time. Though I got a couple laughs at some stupid parts in it, most of my time was spent trying to stay awake while theorizing--successfully, I might add--what would happen next. All in all, pretty mediocre.
However, almost all the cars were kickass, and I liked that they had more muscle cars this time around, but even the driving scenes were flawed by cheap CGI and other stupid crap I can't even start to explain.
Even Vin Diesel's--who I'm a fan of--acting in this is faulted by poor emotional direction and constantly bottled-up rage (excluding one brief scene).
With a sheer lack of plot (other than the obvious 'vengeance' themse) and only one mentioning of "Quantum," this latest installment of the 007 franchise is a solid letdown. Although the action sequences are plentiful, they're so badly choreographed it's difficult to discern what's happening and makes you feel like you're watching a YouTube video. The cliche's are back, though, but seem to make even a worse impression than intended. Daniel Craig, however, does indeed deliver--but that's about it. And the Bond Girl is eh-eh in terms of everything including acting talent, which--along with the gossamer plot--drag this movie down through the depths of its overration. Avoid; at any cost, make it a rental.
Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro--two crime-drama, action, gangster calssics--at last in the same movie, together throughout? Too good to be true, right? Right. Although both DeNiro and Pacino dominate so far as acting goes, as does even Donnie Wahlberg and the cameo-ish John Leguizamo, their performances aren't enough to save the trite script, monotonous characters, and predictability of a cinematographical disappointment. Even the action is limited to single-shot kills, subtle violence, and abundant profanity--if you could even count the latter, categorically. Regardless, this could only be described as a cop-thriller, and even then it would be stretch.
