A Little Disapponting

My 23 year old daughter and I went to a showing at an IMAX at 12:01 PM on 24th because we really expected a lot from this movie. The movie did not live up to our expectations. The 3-D effects were not of the same quality as AVATAR. The story was over too fast and we did not find the charachters fully flushed out. It was a good movie, but not a fantastic one. We expected more from Disney, Johnny Depp, and Tim Burton.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This may be my new movie, the graphics and story were both amazing. It was by far the best movie in the past 5 years.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Middle filler

Mush like Lord of The Rings 2, I found this movie to be a filler to tie together the first and next movie to try to make this a coherent saga. As a movie on trying to stand its own value, it would not make the grade. If it was a movie all by itself it would be too fragmented, 2 seperate stories, one at the beginning and one at the end. Grading it for what it is, a gap filler, I found it acceptable and it would be imporatnt to further the understanding of the series.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

An excellent experience for grown ups

I saw this movie in the Imax format with a large crowd of students from RISD (Rhode Island School of Design). Much like The Rocky Horror Picture show, those students were dressed up in costume for different charachters and it was obvious that htey were avid fans of the book. The movie was excellent when viewed on that level. If you go to see it as an exact reproduction of the book on screen, save your money and buy the book. If you go to see it because you think it is child oriented, once again save the money and buy the book. If you go to see it because of the message it relates, it is money well spent
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Poor Remake

The movie was very short. There was no storyline about the students as individuals and they could have involved the teachers more. It was a bunch of music video clips strung together. The only parts that really work were the scene where the classical piano player first sings (Out here on my own) and the graduation scene.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I saw the movie in IMAX 3-D. I went with my 23 year old daughter and we both thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The take offs on other movies were very subtle but could be picked out if you tried. the 3-D imagery was amazinfg.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The 3-d effects were excellent. they were just a s good as the ones used in "Coraline". I found the story good , but it did not capture me the way "Monsters Inc." did.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
