Funny, beautifully sung and deliciously acted! The production itself, especially in the storm scene, was spectacular. But the sound at the AMC Empire 25 in Manhattan was too loud, especially in the range of the tenor, whose voice became distorted at times, which is too bad because Florez has such a superb voice. Also, at one point, there was a problem with the projection, causing a stuttering effect for several minutes until loud clapping by the audience finally aroused the attention of the projectionist, who then played back at least part of the missed scenes. Definitely worth seeing, but perhaps at another theater, where the sound is not kept at rock concert level.
How wonderful to be able to see a stunning Metropolitan Opera performance in HD the day after it plays live -- and for only $20. Loved the movie and the chance to see the performers up-close as well as behind the scenes. But the screen in the theater where I saw the movie was either too small for the format or had other technical problems -- the actors often looked squat and distorted. Still the beauty of the performance and the music and the virtuoso singing overrode the technical problems. Nevertheless, in the future, I would try to see the movie at a different theater with a larger screen.
