First of all, I'm not young. I'm not male. Therefore, I must not be the target audience. Horrible, horrible language. Every joke is about the male anatomy. Or so it seemed. Yawn. Some people just need to grow up. And then to be subjected to almost 2 1/2 hours of this! The worst part: we went based on reviews we heard on TV that this movie was worth seeing! I wonder how much those guys were paid??!! This movie is not worth one red penny for admission!
Morally corrupt! Hysterically funny! I saw this movie by myself and WISHED I had someone with me to laugh at the never-ending comical twists and plots this movie took in its tale of 4 men, 3 of whom walk the ordinary path of adulthood, and then we have the one misfit who, ohmigod, just makes the movie! I have to get my husband and sons in to see this one! They'll love it!
I walked into this movie expecting it would be a serious tear-jerker. Yes, there were moments that made me tear up, but there were moments of levity, as well. More than the emotions of watching a teenager make the brave decision on how to handle her own life (and death), this is a rare story of how a child's illness can tear a family apart, or make it stronger. It was wonderful to see Abigail Breslin growing into a slightly more adult role, and seeing Cameron Diaz do something other than the ditzy blonde thing. We personally witnessed a family go through the pain of a terminal illness many years ago and saw the tragedy that was wrought over that particular family, so this movie to me was actually uplifting at the end.
First of all, we are dog lovers. Second, we have a "senior" dog. We've raised our family and been through the trials and tribulations of having pets, so we clearly related to parts of this movie. Despite the tears that flowed freely at the end (uncontrollably), the movie was full of laughter and fun. It did get a little down in the middle, when the realties of family life got a bit heavy. Overall, this is just a great story if you like to run the gamut of emotions. I would highly recommend seeing this movie. Just bring plenty of hankies!
Wonderful, wonderful movie! Outstanding movie, great acting, and a moving story. So many emotions were struck throughout this movie; humor, rage at injustices borne by a race, sadness. For the younger generation, this is a must-see for them to see where we have come from, and must never go to again in racial issues. I recommend it to all parents as a family movie with great discussion afterwards.
From the moment this movie began, I had a silly grin plastered on my face. Totally unbelievable? Yes! Time line wrong? Yes! Can Pierce Brosnan sing! No! But Meryl Street cannot only sing, she can dance, she can do the splits and - oh, my - she jumps on the bed! Such fun for a lady of like-minded years! This is simply a movie to go, have fun, forget the world...and laugh, smile, and sing (at least in your heart) along with the actors - it's joy in its purest form.
Being of a "certain" age, this movie was highly entertaining because all the history references were known to me. I can imagine, however, that for younger viewers, some of it could have been confusing (i.e. the scene where the village is nuked). Obviously, Spielbeg and Lucas are of the same age as I, and they had fun putting this story together with some historical facts as well as a slightly hysterical novel take (the crystal skull and creatures from outer space). Highly entertaining and a must-see for everyone, even those who will miss the little historical nuances.
Great movie! Dennis Quaid has the self-absorbed, curmudgeon professor down to a "t". A movie fraught with lonely people, drowning in the aftermath of a tragedy. The only problem I had with this movie was the fact that the wife/mother's death was never explained. I assume she died in a car accident sitting in the passenger's front seat, but the actual reason for her demise is never explained and it is obviously the premise for the heartache of the movie.
This movie was sooooo slow. I slept through the majority of it, despite chewing a whole pack of gum in an effort to stay awake. There was no chemistry whatsoever between Clooney and Zellwegger and the whole thing was stuffy and overacted.
