Inspirational!

From the first shots in rural, poverty-stricken China to the final emotional, tearful (happy tears) ending, this movie captivated not only me, but my friend, who is always skeptical of anything smacking of romance. This movie has everything in it - romance, intrigue, politics, humor. What it does NOT have is violence and bad language. Oh, what a treat! I left the movie wishing I was not 60 and absolutely completely nontalented as far as dancing. Watching the ballet scenes made me want to dance. After seeing the movie I came home and researched the dancer, Li. It seems quite apparent that the movie is true to his real life story. If only all movies could be like this, life would be good.
To anyone who is reading this, do yourself a favor. Find this. See this. You will be rewarded.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

"Ashes to Ashes"

No dialogue. Just love. Four babies from four different corners of the world. How much the same they are as they come into the world! Really, despite all the cultural differences they are raised in, how similar they are at one year of age! We saw this on Mother's Day; the theater was PACKED. Applause at the end. What more can you say? If you have a heart, go see this!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

"I'd do it all over again."

I read a few of the reviews before writing this, and wonder whether we all saw the same movie! This movie was witty, it was spot-on as far as "middle life marriage" is (I'm 60, so I'm a voice of experience), and it showed the poignancy and vulnerability that comes with a long-term marriage. (I'm married 38 years.) And the humor. I had worked all day, 8 hours on my feet, and stayed AWAKE throughout the movie! That's rare and a true recommendation for this movie!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Enjoyment itself

This is a movie to go see on a rainy afternoon. It is a fun movie, with some twists and turns along the way to its emotional and unexpected conclusion. I love romance novels; they always have one romantic ending per novel. This movie managed to have several romantic endings, and some of them were not of the adult kind! All the actors seemed to have fun, even those with bare cameos. I just thought I was going to see "fluff" and was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the characters. I'm glad I got to see it before it leaves the theaters; I enjoy the big screen so much!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I found this story a little close to home. My son's friend died at age 16 from complications of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, so I couldn't help but draw comparisons. How fortunate for this family that the father had these connections and the tenacity to see this through and never, ever give up on his children's lives. The acting was superb. The curmudgeonly Dr. Stonehill (Harrison Ford) and the stop-at-nothing Dad (Brendan Fraser)...the little girl who obviously lived every moment of her life to the fullest. If only all children could be saved like these were...the world would be a better place. I donate in every paycheck to the MDA, hoping someday there will be a cure for all types of this disease.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I had very high expectations going into this movie. I immediately picked up the irony of this black man coming to power in a nation dominated by racism. There is no doubt that Nelson Mandela was an extraordinary man, and was able to draw parallels with his unique situation of having been imprisoned for 27 years. However, the movie moved a bit on the slow side; I found myself nodding off now and then.
The rugby shots were confusing, to say the least. I mean, this turtle thing they do with all the grunting...these scenes could have been done in a second or two instead dragging on and on.
Morgan Freeman and Mat Damon were amazing and probably will be nominated for Oscars. And kudos to Clint Eastwood with his "platinum" touch!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Don't waste your money. Completely stupid premise...poor costumes....I can't imagine how these otherwise talented big name actors were convinced to be in this stooopid movie!

I went into the theater expecting to see an unabashedly sweet "chick flick". Imagine my surprise to find myself sitting through a movie that deals with the aftermath of the death of loved ones. Once I got the gist of the movie, I felt it was a bit too predictable, right down to the last scene, but enjoyed the attempt,. I really appreciated the wonderful acting by whomever plays Walter...I thought he really was the best part of the movie! After all, if you are going to tell the story of accepting death, he was the epitome of what most of us go through at that trying time.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Distorted Historical Fiction

Ok, first of all, I believe the very first scene (or close to it) we witness a scalping. Right then, the faint of heart should leave the theater! I did not leave the theater. I closed my eyes, covered them, a few times, but found the story line fascinating and the gore a necessity in the telling of the story. Anyone who wants to delight in watching the enemies of WWII get a taste of their own violent medicine should see this movie!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I can't believe I paid $9.50 for this movie! At least I enjoyed the previews and popcorn! I have NEVER sneaked so peeks at my cell phone to check the time as I did in the theater while agonizing my way to the end of this movie. So many insipid gazes....and I mean, really, couldn't they find a better way for this poor guy to exit time travel than to be dumped naked anywhere, anytime?! I know the concept of time travel is unbelievable, but believe me, this movie was unbelievably bad!
No, I do not recommend this movie.
